I know a purusha who has spenyt ime at the brahmastan of India and he
says a few of the buildings there were built not facing true east and
MMY said "don't worry about it"

I personally cannot see it as anything other than a placebo, we are
told by the great almighty enlightened ones our houses should face
the place where the sun rises on one day a year and we will feel
better, live longer etc.

If you buy into the "cognizance of natural law" belief system of
course you will feel better when you finally fork out for a SV house.
And if you live in a south facing home {shiver} you will start to
feel baaaad and blame any misfortune on the negative vastu vibes.

That's how most alternative therapies work (MVVT also springs to mind)
it's your relationship with the teacher/doctor etc that makes you
feel better not the direction your house faces.

Just as a thought, perhaps the choice of east thing originally
evolved from an earlier sun worshipping sect. Or maybe they just
didn't want the full heat of the sun on their gardens, it ruins the
lawn you know.
