Yep. But not in the way you apparently believe. It turns out that virtually all the land along the Netherlands-German border was taken by the Dutch without objection by the Germans because, well, it was marshland, or prone to flooding, and the Germans didn't want to live there. The Dutch drained the land, walled it off from the rivers, and made it liveable. Very creative, but hardly "natural."
