How do you propose to move the Amtrak station closer to Smith "Center" Kansas? They will never lay down new track just for a school. Freight companies own the tracks and see passenger trains as a required nuisance.
How are you going to create an airport large enough to support even one carrier, US Airways to Kansas? SLN will remain the closest airport far in to the future. You won't be able to increase the population until there is good transportation, and vice versa. It is a catch 22. Fairfield grew because it was relatively easy to get to. There have been no new train stations, and no new airports since MIU was founded in 1973.
