That may be the case for some. Personally, I first heard the allegations from a close friend in 1977 or so. Frankly, I tended to believe it, though left it open until I heard more. It died away until on this list in 2005 or so I read the skin-boy transcripts and gave more credence to the claim. In neither instance was I substantially shaken. Nor was there any impluse to blame the accusers.
