No one here is going "to live by he says she says." It is only fair to provide
important
information about an important person in a friend's life - if you think they
can handle it
and if it might help them think about things more clearly (if your best
friend's wife was
cheating on him, would you tell him or not? - lots of variables to consider).
Also, the
person who witnessed the upsetting incident may be overwhelmed with emotion
themselves - not know exactly what to do or whom to tell. It is not easy.

I agree that gossip is destructive - but I don't think talk of this issue with
regard to MMY
or any saint is plain old gossip. For one thing, we can't be everywhere to see
all the in's
and out's of MMY's behavior. So reporting back from people who were there (and
witnessed or experienced the behavior) is a bit different than gossip, IMO. I
think this
generation of seekers, on many paths, not just TM, are dealing with the issue
of
enlightened people behaving in ways we don't associate with enlightenment. It
is a BIG
thing to work around emotionally. It is not gossip. It is a profound change
in the
understanding of what enlightenment means for human behavior during Kali Yuga.
People
may have to decide whether they want to know the facts, or be happy but
ignorant. But I
agree with you that doubts might interfere with darshan, and in The Grand
Scheme of
Things, maybe moving toward enlightenment without any doubts trumps the truth.
I don't
know.
