I am sympathetic to your being a regular victim of baiting -- by a Master. I am less sympathetic in that you usually take the bait. I am baffled by your statement above. Your posts' and their logic usually are quite clear. What I understand is Barry expressed his opinion. He is not the spokesman for the group in any manner. Beyond his own views, Barry doesn't get to determine anything in FFL, much less if the group feels you have something to say or not. > Not Rory, nor claudiouk, nor trinity, nor Alex, nor > feste, nor any of the others who have risked crossing > Barry to say they enjoy my posts (not to mention those > who have contacted me privately). > Their views don't count. Only Barry's does. Again baffled. Why don't their views count? Everyone can freely express an opinion. And all the opinions are not even a vote or referendum. And even if it were, its clearly not one "determining truth". It would be like an opinion poll. A poll determines what people are thinking, not if their thinking corresponds to truth or reality. I hardly let Barry make my opinions. I am sure no one else does. I may listen politely to some of his arguments, but I evaluate things on my own. As does everyone. On the broader point of not addressing a persons traits, hangups, percieved flaws, etc, but rather focus on the content of the post, to aviod inciting flame wars: both you and Barry have two violations today. Not severe ones, but this is leading up to the so old flame war dynamic. Thus I suggest to the moderators: 1) Solve the problem at its root. Put Barry and Judy on suspension (no posts) for 3 days. Limit them to 5 posts a day for several weeks upon their return 2) For non violators, raise the limit to 10 posts per day -- thus allowing creative insightful back and forth exchanges of new ideas that do not (usually) lead to flame wars.
