Actually, electoral politics generally is
composed entirely of appeals to elitism,
whether it be elitism of level of consciousness,
of experience in government or foreign policy,
of community involvement, of achievement in the
military, of religiosity, of trustworthiness, of
which candidate you'd prefer to have a beer with,
even of appearance...you name it.

The real issue is not whether the appeal is
to elitism, because they all are; the real
issue is *which* elitism is likely to be the
most relevant in the selection of an effective
leader.
