Very interesting post. I don't believe there is a connection, but I 
am open-minded on the topic, because of what I show below ("Kansas" 
was almost an amorphous region, rather than some clear-cut state 
back in the days when Mormonism was founded.) Perhaps 
the "channeling" by Joseph Smith, founder of the mormons, was 
nothing to do with current Mormonism or Christianity, but a much 
more ancient thread.
 
What do people here think of this below?:
