another GGN story on Vedic dance:

Distinguished inauguration guest demonstrates Vedic dance therapy
by Global Good News staff writer

Global Family Chat
6 September 2007

At the recent inauguration of 58 Maharishi Hospitals and Maharishi
Colleges of Vedic Medicine around the world on Krishna Janmashtami,
Dr Walter Molk introduced a distinguished family of guests from India
to the International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in
MERU Holland.

The guests included Dr Prabhat Kumar, Professor of Mathematics from
the University of Puna and a former Air Force officer; Mrs Kiran
Kumar, MA in Economics and Director and Founder of the Urvashi Katha
Srishti College of Dance; and their daughter, Dr Urvashi Shrivastava,
a PhD in Psychology, who also holds three separate degrees in three
of the most authentic traditional Vedic Dances. Dr Shrivastava gave a
beautiful demonstration of Vedic Dance Therapy that, her father
explained, mirrored Lord Krishna dancing in a garden of flowers,
along with the humming honeybees.

Dr Molk explained that Dr Shrivastava, a senior faculty member of the
Urvashi Katha Srishti College of Dance, which is recognized by the
Maharashtra Government, is an expert in dance therapy, combining
consciousness and physiology through Vedic dance. He pointed out that
Vedic dance is an art that also has a very therapeutic, soothing, and
relaxing effect on different areas of the body. 'If one is able to
have perfect coordination of physical movement and consciousness,
then this serves as a means of developing higher states of
consciousness. Maharishi has said that Vedic dance is a means of
attaining Brahmavidya, the totality of knowledge.'
