What is the country of origin of this magazine? After making a few
calls last night, I believe it to be unavailable in Minneapolis, which
is highly annoying, as the article sounds extremely interesting. Did it
mention anything as to the cause of Jamie's dissention and subsequent
departure from Faithless? Did I also see someone mention that Dave
Randall has left the band as well? Are the two exits related?

It is a dark day. I don't know how much Dave contributed to the band
from a songwriting perspective, but I believe he played guitar on
virtually all the tracks on Sunday 8pm, and for live performances he is
essential. I also believe that Jamie's absence will hugely affect the
depth and variety of Faithless in a negative direction, as he has penned
many of their best songs (even co-writing My Lover's Gone w/Dido). One
of the things I love so much about Faithless is that they're not easily
categorized. Sure, they've got the epic house tracks like Insomnia and
Salva Mea, but they also have songs like Don't Leave and Hour of Need.
That variety is key, and it makes them so much more than just another
dance act.

However, the membership of Faithless has seemed fairly fluid since it
began. Remember seeing pics of Rollo on Reverence? Dido, Pauline
Taylor, and Paulie and Matty (now of Skinny) have all branched off from
Faithless to expand their own creativity, yet remaining in the Cheeky
fold. If there's one thing that Cheeky does not lack, it's talent. It
is my hope that while the departed members will never be replaced,
Faithless will be able to add new and different voices that will take us
all in an unexpected direction.

linking my thinking,

dave
