Hate to sound too negative, but I'll believe it when I see it. If this
is a replacement chart for the UK Top 40, then that's amazing news, so
amazing that I'd be surprised if it happens because it would be a
radical change for a lot of people in the music industry; but if it's an
"alternative" chart, not treated as as important as the 'proper' Top 40,
then it's going to get ignored. And artists are going to be still keen
to chart in the proper top 40, so they'll keep their singles down below
the 3 tracks and/or 20 minutes rules. So it won't make a difference to
releases.
Instead of starting a new chart, the rules should simply revert to their
old levels- no more than 4 tracks, or 40 minutes. You could get value
that way.
Having no rules for a chart makes it a bit meaningless. What then is the
difference between a single and a double-album?
