One word of caution, if you get into CSS positioning, N4 has big problems with
it, it crashes N4.08 and N4.06 which are used at universities here in the US and
in Europe and if a university is using Netscape, it'll be on all their
computers, leaving students who access fanfic sites thru university computers
unable to get to your site.

If you can, install N4.08 on your computer for testing, it's available in
Netscape's browser archive. Also Rauhnee uses N4.06 and helped me figure out
what parts of CSS-P it objected to.

I ended up moving all my CSS-P and any css borders to a separate style sheet and
using the @import to bring in that style sheet. N4 simply ignores the @import,
thus skipping the CSS that makes it crash and then it displays the page contents
in a vertical fashion.

Have you checked out the Web Standards website?

http://webstandards.org/

and the upgrade page:

http://webstandards.org/act/campaign/buc/

and of course, A List Apart has lots of great info about CSS compatibility and
dealing with Netscape as you already know. :-)
