There's no public open demos -- they tend to get defaced and require an effort to maintain. We're looking at building a self repairing demo site soonish, but our efforts in the short term are shipping 5.0. Setting up a local dev machine with MySQL or Postgres is really very straight forward -- i run both on my laptop. Have you tried either of these options?
