FarCry Core is a framework. FarCry has its own ORM. Nothing stopping developers from using things like ColdSpring, Transfer etc, to interact with components and data models not directly managed by FarCry -- and many of us do. > (use of includes to handle database interactions is a bit old > fashioned) Not sure what you are referring to here. > I missed the reporting tab in the standard installation i cannot find > any good reference how to incorporate this into the cms. THE version 4 > is not available anymore !!!! Reporting has been removed from Core in 5.0. Essentially this is because we can't keep pace with free products like Google Analytics that offer much better stats. That said, there has been talk of re-implementing the original FarCry stats package as a separate plugin but we're looking for an eager member of the community to run with it. > However the sytem looks great and has a lot of promissing features but > the lack of how to's cookbook style customizations etc seriously > restricts it's usage. I would say i'd rather use a php system because > it has much more prebuild modules therefore reducing dev time. Each to his own. Nothing like reviewing 30 polling plugins for a system. I prefer to build my own in a day. We're working on beginner documentation but we need all the help we can get. > ps can someone tell me how to hook up the missing tabs > (reporting, security, googlemaps). > which are advertized but not in the standard installation Reporting -- not available. Recommend using Google Analytics. Security tab in 5.0 is now merged with Admin. Google Maps plugin can be installed manually. Details here but has not been updated for 5.0 yet. It's pretty straight forward -- if you are super keen I'll update the doco: http://docs.farcrycms.org/display/FCPLUG/Google+Maps Hope that helps :) -- geoff http://www.daemon.com.au/ PS.
