Every site node is displayed using the default displayPageStandard of it's navigation node. It is this webskin that determines how to display the node, i.e. should it show a child item or pull content from an external link. I believe a message is displayed if neither of those are true.
It's possible there is an error in the include that is being suppressed. bDebug=1 (or debug=1 - I think FarCry has inconsistencies somewhere) in the url usually displays that kind of thing.
