 I know that I spent some time working with Jeff Coughlin trying to get 
IONIC to work correctly, but gave up in the end and just went with the 
free version of the helicon filter for II6 and Apache for everything 
else.  It sounds like IIS7 correctly supports the same constructs that 
Apache does, so I'd ditch IONIC and go with the built in IIS7 rewrites.
