What about Lucene? http://jakarta.apache.org/lucene/docs/index.html
There are already several CFMX hooks for this -- including some work done in DRK3. The DRK stuff -- hmm.. not sure about licensing but perhaps we can use it if it's always used in FarCry and not isolated... don't know.

I think we're going to need some sort of config for listing locales for your site ie this site uses english, german and frech. Then the verity build/update page would loop through this list adding a collection for each locale? You would then need to change the actual search page to only search the collections in the current locale?
that sounds good (for locales that verity supports).
Yep (see attached image). Verity and German unicode seems ok.
strange, i think there's an open bug about verity & unicode collections (maybe just CJK). if it works i guess farcry should come with this "snazzy" chunk of jewelery: http://www.unicode.org/consortium/unisavvy.html (this has sparked a huge debate over the use of the word "savvy"--the unicode folks are single minded lot).
direct database search. However, if there are other indexing tools out there that people would like to incorporate into FarCry, we'd be happy to take a look :)
well i'll vote for the ms products. iis indexing works across most locales, as does sql server full text.
