It is partly related - in providing the following distinctions:
There is a difference between IMAGE in dmFact and the TEASERIMAGE in
dmNews.
The former is the actual path of the image being stored.
The latter is the UUID of the image object.
So what I needed to do was translate the UUID into an actual object that
would give me the metadata that I can use to load the image.
Fortunately, the FourQ API wrapper tag that I subsequently posted (and
found by looking further and in conjuncation with Paul's post) has the
answer to loading ANY object from FarCry.
Posted here again just as a little repetition (mostly for myself ;)

You just HAVE to love how easy it is in CFMX to abstract code into a
simple tag-based call. The contentObjectGet tag handles all the creating
of a FourQ object and the loading of the data and the return of the data
as a structure.
Of course, I guess this could have also been a <CFFUNCTION> - but I like
the namespace of the <CFIMPORT> tag. It sits well with my
