Curtin Business School does this today, for their University wide implementation.

also interested in using AD group memebership as security group management
for FarCry...

Several folk do this already, including Roche Pharma for their APAC intranet.

has anyone explored this?
Is it possible out of the box with farCry?

Absolutely its possible and relatively straightforward depending on your requirements. The security model is designed to be able to mix and match UserDirectories (eg. Roche has many domains and a standard farcry userdirectory for admins all running together to manage the same implementation).

Unfortunately, its not particularly well described at this time. It's traditionally something daemon does as a value-added service. But we're not trying to hide anything -- just haven't had the time to write up appropriate developer documentation.

Paul from Curtin has been threatening to write up the steps to implement LDAP -- how about it Paul?
