Hi everyone... I'm new to FarCry but have experience with some other
CF-based CMS systems.
Geoff,
This parameter passing is exactly what several other systems
have to deal with these smaller settings options that may not warrant a
major code modification. PaperThin's CommonSpot deals with this but
allowing a developer to pass in name-value pairs to a custom application
module. This is done via the GUI, so a contributor can change the
parameters without needing a developer to make any modifications to the
code (assuming the code looks for the parameters the user provides!)
The only downside to their method is that it doesn't allow for complex
data types. If this can be accomplished for FarCry, it would be a
tremendous value-add. Being able to parameterize the display handlers
would make them a lot easier to reuse.

One simple scenario I've encountered is displaying a thumbnail in a
teaser display. It would be nice to alternate the alignment of the
image from left to right without having to have two teaser methods.
An stParams structure would let you enforce a certain alignment at
invocation.
