The rule I would like to see lose dmNews and other expiring types is the
Handpicked rule. It's on my list to work at a custom rule based on Handpicked
that checks for expiration and also doesn't lose display type settings each time
an object is added.
Cheers,
Natalie

Gary, I second that - I have the dmNews rule working hard over here on two
User group sites...
My two cents worth would be to turn on debugging and look at the queries to
the dmNews table and see what they are selecting and then running them in
'interactive' session with your DB (using query tools like mySql Front etc)
and see what you get...

I don't know that there is anything you can do wrong.
On the ABN AMRO Morgans site, we use a news rule and the content goes
away once it has expired.
What frequency are you wanting it to disappear in? Is the container
part of any caching? If you are using caching, this may be why you are
not seeing it disappear immediately - but it should go away eventually.
