We do this on the ABN AMRO Morgans site. On our home page there is are headlines of Market Sensitive announcements from a third party company for everyone to see. But when they click on the link, they have to log in. That's because it goes to a specific page/nav in the site that has a "Members" permission on it.
But if you access the News objectid direct won't that grant access to the article? The standard content object invocation request through index.cfm only checks security on the navigation node. If the News object is not directly related to it then surely it won't get protected?
