Dave,

Hmmm, when I spoke to CT this morning, they said they had discussed FarCry last week, and that I could install it on my servers myself, no problem.

When did you call them? A few weeks ago, can't remember when exactly, CT adding CF mappings to their user control panel. I have since created mappings on other shared servers with other applications via the control panel, and it should work for this.

In any case, I have about 20 client sites and a half dozen of my own at CT now, and I have a vested interest in trying to make their setup work with FarCry. If this was to be my first site with them, I might simply go to another company with a proven FarCry setup, and I guess from the (uncharacteristically cryptic) response you received from CT, there is a chance might still need to do so.

Unfortunately, it will be a week or two before I can roll up my sleeves and dive into prepping a site in FarCry to test on a shared server, but I'll post my results to the list as quickly as possible.

I talked to them about it too... they were kinda like "yeah sure no
problem"... then when I explained the needed mappings, they were more
like "we'll see if it works when you sign up".

For a host to embrace farcry, they need to install the core themselves
and give no one access to it. I have yet to talk to Paladin (but I do
plan on it for an upcoming project), but it does sound they that is what
they are doing.

Geoff,

Thanks for the list of webhosts offering FarCry. All of them look very
good.

Fortunately, however, with some notes from Michael (again thanks!) I
was
able to confirm that my favorite US company, Crystaltech.com, sets up
their shared servers in such a way that I will be able to install
FarCry
right into to root directory of any of my sites.

With this matter resolved, I can hardly wait to get started!
