Are you running each department as a separate FarCry application? We run some very large intranets using a branch of the tree for each department. Each branch has its own groups of approvers and contributors.
Thats an interesting idea. We are planning to launch the first of the intranet sites tomorrow, however I can run the idea by them. If they like it I might be able to postpone the launch.
So how do you link to the homepage of each website? In my case all the websites are completely different animals. They look and act in their own way.
Would each homepage for each department still be a virtual directory? ("http:// intranet/dept_a").
Perhaps you are just using Friendly URLs to point to their homepages (simulating a virtual directory)? Seems like a workable solution.
