yeap, you have the inheritence part sussed out. Your component will
inherit all properties; title, expirydate, teaser, body as well as
methods; execute, edit ...

However, you will want to overrided methods like edit to cater for new
agruments/parameters you have added.

When you build your own component, you start from scratch. When you
extent you inheirt and then extend by adding new parts to suit your
needs - this may save you time if the base componet is a 80-90% fit.

Not sure about bschedule, but bUseInTree=1 will add your componet to
the create popup menu and create items in the overview plane, i.e. you
can add your object to the navigation node like dmHTML. This may not
be relivant in your case if you are basing it on a news item.

Another thing you may want to look into is creating your own tab to
house your custom type. See the how-to for the photo gallery - in
there is a section on creating a tab (XML customadmin) and then link
to a maintenance section to list all the instances you your component.
