Geoff & Daemon, maybe there is a case for allowing an application specific richTextEditor.cfm call in a similar way to other calls - eg. login.cfm and floatmenu.cfm . This will allow everyone to plug in whatever WYSIWYG editors they wished to use without having to look at core. This should be simple and could find its way into 2.3, please please please.

Although unlikely to make it into 2.3 we're looking at improving the way rich text editors are plugged into FarCry. We're happy to help with the integration of any editor -- the only problem being that you need an initial change to the core to make the editor an option.

With regard to HTMLArea... the 3.0rc1 version is certainly comparable to FCKEditors latest version. The only issue is the "beta" state of both editors.

Both editors appear to have licensing options that would enable us to distribute the editor with the farcry_core code base without the current requirement of a separate download.

Nathan Mische is handling HTMLArea integration, does anyone out there feel like taking on FCKEditor integration?
