First I want to say congratulations on the recent FarCry release. I've said it before and I'll say it again, FarCry rocks!
:D
I've just started as a senior developer at a new company and my employer is in a position where they need to implement some sort of CMS. I think the site currently has about 3 million users and they hope to grow the site to 10 million users by the end of the year. There goal is to support 10,000 concurrent users, with heavy personalization. Can ColdFusion handle that kind of load? I know this is more of a general CF question, but I ask here because the site is currently a CF application and I am plan on proposing FarCry as an option.
Macromedia.com runs CF on Jrun. It's one of the hardest hit web assets in the world. Lonely Planet run one of the busiest travel forums in the world on CF. There are any number of examples.
CFMX is just Java -- and a Sun Certified Java app at that rate. By all accounts CF performs as well as any other J2EE application -- obviously ultimate performance depends on how you implement your solution but CF is as good a starting point as any (perhaps even better than most :)
