Perhaps you're still a little confused. I'll explain, and even if you
don't need this info i'm sure someone can use it!
Your first step is to wrap selected site content or webskin code in
<skin:cache> tags. What is appropriate? Anywhere navigation links are
generated (a big one), containers with complex or multiple rules
applied, and "static" information that doesn't change much (i'm
thinking of the html page header and footer here).
Once you've defined these blocks, you can then go into the admin and
hit that link ("Cache All") to cause a series of CFHTTP requests to be
spawned that cause all of the defined "cache-able" (i don't even know
if that is a word) areas on every page of your site to get saved in
server memory . It's really no different than having your 12 best
friends each hit a few pages on the site for you, except you don't
have to thank them later.
What's the benefit of doing this? The admin takes the first "hit" so
all site visitors are immediately reaping the benefits of cached data.
Pretty smooth.
Ah, the beauty of cache...
