Production environments should only be running code from a maintenance branch (for example, branch p230 for FarCry v2.3) or a specific milestone build. A maintenance branch will have all the latest fixes for that version. A milestone release is just a snapshot in time of a specific branch.
The very latest code generally does include all fixes -- where relevant. However, the latest code is untested and although relatively stable it shouldn't be relied on for production environments.
Pulling the HEAD of the CVS trunk is just going to get you into lots of trouble -- unless of course you are looking for trouble ;)
