I've solved it by looping over the aObjectids of the navigation object and first displaying them as a second navigation (the dmHtml objects), then I display the objects of type dmNavigation. This way I can add an dmHtml directly under Content and access it both directy from "Content" in the main menu and from the sec nav.
Have a look at the new Pliant webskin: available in the Glamour beta or via CVS. There is a new generic admin tag and examples of its use for primary and secondary navigation implementations in CSS.
