I've never used Logic, but AFAICT it's AU-only, so you probably need some
kind of AU-to-VST bridge? A quick web search didn't turn up anything that's
free. There used to be a commercial bridge by fxpansion (
http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=5) which I've seen recommended in
forums, but it doesn't seem to be supported any more. Plogue's Bidule (
http://www.plogue.com/products/bidule/) seems to be able to host VST
plugins and run as an AU, but I've never used that either, and in any case
it's probably overkill for that purpose.
If you just want to give faust-vst a try, there are cheap DAWs like Reaper
and Tracktion which work with both AU and VST on the Mac. These are both
very capable DAWs, but without notation (only piano roll for MIDI). The
Reaper download is in fact the full version, just with a nag screen. Or
dust off that Linux laptop, and get Tracktion which is free for Linux. ;-)
Or someone needs to sit down and port faust-vst to AU. Shouldn't be that
hard, so I might do that some time, but don't hold your breath for it. ;-)
