I know I’ve signed up before, but couldn’t remember which email address I’d used (so couldn’t be ‘reminded’ I think). I ended up registering again, but not being allowed to use the recommended username “AndyWilliamson” I think, because that was already in use, so having to make up something else. I know I have a few doppelgangers around, but I’m pretty sure this one is also me, so I’m now there twice.

I came through to the free creative archive letter today with interest, having arrived from boingboing. Little did I realize how annoyed I would be by the time I finally managed to sign the letter. I think that the Free Culture website and idea is definitely deserving of support and praise, but your website is a nightmare for anyone who is not familiar with wikis. The signup page *isn't* clear as is suggested, it's about the exact opposite to that.
I understand that a Wiki allows easy collaboration between the people who already use the site, all of you are probably proficient and knowledgeable about technology and the Internet, however the format of the site in my opinion (which of course could be wrong!) is unwelcoming and threatening to a socially conscious visitor who clicked through to find out what it's all about.
Are there any current plans to update the site structure, perhaps move the wiki into one part of the site and have a main, non-wiki site on the front end. It might also help to make signing up to participate clearer, as at the moment the sign up page is - as I said before - anything but clear.
I realize I've been quite critical, but I do applaud what is being done here and I would be glad to help in any way possible.
Best regards,
