The obvious problem with the signup page is this:
"Please fill out Name, Password, Password repeat and Email.". But if you check above next to Password repeat (which would benefit from a more friendly name like 'Please retype your password for confirmation that it is correct') if says "(Only when changing passwords)". This caused me some consternation when I tried to work out whether it was wrong to retype my password when signing up (to sign the open letter to the BBC.
My feeling is that if people want to pledge their support to an open letter or campaign then their should be some mechanism (form) for them to leave the details they want to, without having to sign up for the wiki or email. Check out the irrespressible.info http://irrepressible.info/pledge . Their pledge system is simple, concise and quick.
ps are you thinking about doing website banners, buttons etc? I might make some of my own which I will post if I get round to it.

I am sorry to hear it was so confusing and I appreciate you taking the
time to write about it. I would point out that it is possible to sign up
to the CA letter via email. Could you be a bit more specific about what
isn't clear with the sign up page (off-list might be best for this).

Just to be clear here: is it the general site navigation that is unclear
or the method for editing the site? You only ever need to sign in if you
want to edit the site which isn't something most visitors will be doing
(with the CA letter that option is provided for people who'd prefer to
do-it-themselves rather than sending an email).

The wiki is simply being used as a CMS rather than as a 'wiki' so no,
there aren't any plans to have a non-wiki main site. As I said you don't
need to sign-up on the site to participate in Free Culture UK -- you
only need to signup/login if you want to edit the site.

Thanks. You've already helped by indicating the problems.
