IMO, thats a job for the INSTALLer.
On a usual bootdisk, space is often at least  as limited as the 640K memory
limit.
so 54K (unneeded) Kb are as bad as 233Kb.

all I need on a boot disk are 1, maybe 2 layouts - thats it.

even on a desktop many GB hard disk, there is absolutely no reason to have 
        cyrillic keyboard layouts,
        turkish fonts/codepages (which are probably larger then kyboard layouts)
        LV help messages (unfortunately we don't have many help files yet)
(if you are german like me)

if you are concerned about *distribution* size:
you can 'doublezip' your files, by 
        1'st pass - store everything into archive using 'UNCOMPRESSED'
        2'nd pass - zip this file

then the 'full' distro is smaller then the current 'reduced' distro.
