Thanks Brian,

I really think if you get a chance to look across all the other exam
papers this sitting you'll see that trend of "borderline
unacceptable" (if not just plain unacceptable) repeating itself over
and over again.

Company - was a damn weird paper and certainly harder than any of the
past papers (of which I've done all)
EU Law - see thread here on this (absolute woeful disaster for 99% of
people)
Tort - seemed confused itself as to what was important and not
(examiner really vague and broad on issues)
Property - word for word exact same topics as last sitting (this is
one that is so hard to fathom)
Contract - As you noted above
Constitutional - always tough anyway
Equity - again getting harder every year
Criminal - anybody I talked to noted how hard this paper has gotten in
the space of one year.

Having not done the Griffith, Independent, etc, and worked very very
hard for these exams, I do have to worry if I passed all the ones I
sat this time.
But for those doing the prep courses, and this is quite relevant to
Brian, I really think the examiners are going out of their way to
ensure that no learning is done from the pack, in so far as they now
are focusing on specific areas of the course, that may be only touched
on in the packs (State aids question in EU focusing on Art 88 only,
Statue of Limitations Act 1991 (not the other acts), etc etc).

I realise that the lecturers in Griffith are fantastic at putting the
"examiner's spin" on the way topics are taught, however, examiners are
making their questions so , unpredictable that often times you may
have covered the area, including the spin the examiner takes to the
topic, but only be able to write a page or less on that topic due to
the way it is phrased. i.e. It feels like they are forcing you to go
get the key texts and learn them.

Sorry about the broadness of my reply outside just the contract paper,
but since you posted here I thought it important to bring my views
(and the many of my friends who studied alone/with Griffith/
Independent).
