Not to muddy the waters at all... :)

The OpenSolaris Community is considering similar things, as there have 
been requests for Fedora 3.0 to live in an opensolaris.org IPS 
repository. Most of the issues being discussed for Debian also apply to 
OpenSolaris, so I´d like to jump into this discussion.

For OpenSolaris:
  1) FHS issues and mechanisms would be a bit different on OSOL, but the 
striving for
      something ´standard´ is still a good goal
  2) Pre-Existing tomcat case (as a subset of overall 
dependencies/assumptions) is as
      important an issue
  3) Profiles/flavors would make for a much better ´out of the box 
experience´, and would
      definitely knock down barriers to entry - that said, this could be 
something introduced
      after a first ´release´

So, +1 for ´package-izing´ Fedora, but I´d like to bring the OSOL 
perspective, if people don´t feel it will confuse the issue.
