Hello Chris, James, everyone, Thanks for the replies - very useful! I get the point of the managed content for our metadata dataStreams (especially considering James' comments on versions) and it seems we don't lose too much if we opt for externally referenced content for the big objects. (The "up-front thought" you mention is going to be required anyway and in some ways simplifies things as I wont have to worry about what Fedora is doing with my data :-)). I'll also explore the send by reference performance - though that again requires a second copy - which may or may not be desirable (I need to think more on it! :-)). I was thinking about file:// URLs on the way home last night and how that might work - could be useful so I'll explore that a bit more too.
Anyways, all I really wanted to say was thanks for the good advice! :-) Pete Cliff Software Engineer, FutureArch http://futurearchives.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ Fedora-commons-developers mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fedora-commons-developers
