Hola guys!

yes, although there ought to be rendundant namenodes in a near future
release of haddop (afaik 0.23), this is a SPOF which would have to be
monitored and most importantly backed up on a regular basis, since the
data on the single nodes is not recoverable without the namenode metadata.

Since one of our important requirements is the support for wrinting
files of arbitrary sizes in an efficient way, dynamo based solutions
were not really evaluated as a datastore. We might evaluate a KV-store
for storing metadata on a higher level later on but havent considered it
as a fedora-commons storage, because of the size restrictions it imposes.

I haven't really thought about PID generation yet Zookeeper seems an
approprite solution for that. Im currently reading up on HBase/HDFS so i
hope i can make a qualified statement about that soon ;)

Thanks very much this will help me out a lot!

Does this mean there's already some kind of interface defined for the
HighLevelStorage feature or is this still to be done?

Thanks a lot!
