Sorry sent last email just as solution dawned on me. I forgot to edit my tomcat
startup service script to use jdk 1.6.

Tomcat starts but still has trouble starting fedora

I switched to jdk 1.6.0_32 instead of jdk 1.7.0_04, uninstalling jdk 1.7
before I installed 1.6 and reran the fcrepo-installer-3.5.jar choosing the
same options as before but this time catalina.out says there is still a
reference to jdk 1.7.0 in catalina.sh in line 389

"eval \ "$_RUNJAVA" \ "$LOGGING_CONFIG" $JAVA_OPTS $CATALINA_OPTS \

When I echo the environment variables I get the following table

JAVA_HOME /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_32
FEDORA_HOME /usr/local/fedora
CATALINA_HOME /usr/share/apache-tomcat-7.0.27/

PATH Fedora/server/bin fedora/client/bin
CLASSPATH [BLANK]

Thanks for the tip Jörg but would the security measures in fedora prevent it
starting up?

I intend to access fedora in the main using islandora once I get it up and
running

Hallo,

As mentioned earlier: IBM Java delivered together with SLES11 (Suse) turned out
to be insufficient, changing to Java 6 from java.com fixed some problems I had.

Other things that made Fedora installation easier: Switch off most of the
buildt-in security measures of Fedora and manage security via Apache httpd (in
our setting, Apache Tomcat is only reachable via Apache httpd except from
localhost).
