I wanted to let you guys know that once I upgraded to FC 3.6.2, all these
issues were resolved. I think there was a bug in 3.4.x where ingested files did
not get garbage collected properly.

After upgrading to FC3.6.2, I was able to ingest 4GB files easily into
Islandora 6.x. I have not tried files > 4GB though. Also, Islandora 6.x uses
SOAP APIs and Islandora 7.x uses REST APIs for accessing Fedora server. I think
for large files, REST API is better and might support ingestion of even larger
files.

Thanks.

I don't see anything too crazy with `lsof -a -p`. I could use another set of
eyes on this[1] in case I completely missed something :-)
