Now that is friggin neat.  

Can that be done for icons in the panel ?  If so, there should be a way
to make them appear different if a different user is selected.

The KDE menu system should have a way of starting any application as
root.  Maybe by a right click ?  I guess now one could set that up using
an icon somewhere.
