I did find a case where logging in as root can cause akonadi to fail, 
leading to failed kconf_update scripts, and apparent session pause.

2 ways we're tackling this:
1.  identify kconf_update scripts causing akonadi to fire (even though it's 
not being used).
2.  make akonadi usable even for root.
