One of the things I did in fedora 11 was discover I had random problems with some sites in firefox, so I moved ~/.mozilla to ~/.mozilla.orig and started from scratch. That seemed to make it much more reliable for me (though it was never actually segfaulting, some things just didn't work). Once I got it working, I found the places.sqlite file down in ~/.mozilla.orig and copied it over the one in the ~/.mozilla version and recovered my bookmarks.
