        We progress, albeit slowly. The first three steps were already 
set that way. I cancelled the first two, without any logging out or in, 
and went to the third. It wouldn't let me change beyond the 1024x768 that 
it had -- I was trying to say that before -- but I did try clicking on 
Detect Monitors, even though I thought I had before.

        That didn't fix the fading, but it did make the size a lot more 
like what it is on the others. I kept it, and may just reboot and try all 
three steps again. Stay tuned.
