The use the chroot(8) command to set /mnt/sysimage as your root, then use the passwd(1) command to change the password, then to be safe, unmount /mnt/sysimage. Example: (if the root file system is not mounted: mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/sysimage (assuming this is where root is) ) chroot /mnt/sysimage passwd -->you will be prompted umount /mnt/sysimage The reboot.
