If you use KDE, check systemsettings, advanced tab, file associations.  It
sounds as though you have a player association set up, but not in the Embedded
tab.  HTH

I'm using GNOME .....   how do I change file associations in it ?

well ...... I'm not getting " view in stand-alone player" option on the page ... is there any extra plugin that I need to install to get the said option ? if yes then please guide me how to install that plugin
