Recent update changed usb device support

Since my last update I am now required to enter the root password in a 
dialog to mount a usbdrive.  This update (3 weeks of accumulated updates 
really) broke three separate things!
-sound
-usb support
-firefox 32bit

I know that there are no garantees here.. but really.
