The kind suggestions by Michael Schwendt and Joachim Backes do not work; no GRUB screen appears. I nourish a suspicion, which may of course be wrong, that Fedora 12 cannot quite handle the the new Intel Core I5 processor, or even that there is some hidden bug in the processor design.
