As I search online for information, I'm hearing different numbers when it comes to a target word count or page count for new fantasy authors. So far I've heard everything from 80k words, to 120k words (which worries me, because I'm pushing 112k already, and have only completed about 80% of the prose. True, I will still need to go back and revise, but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to overshoot a recommended word count and have my manuscript tossed out before it's even read.
Can you offer any advice, Ray?
