Well, the US and many European countries had banned absinthe until
recently. Sure, it's been making a huge comeback, but, for example, true
absinthe has only been legal again in the US since 2007.
So, personally, I've just not gotten around to trying the stuff. :)
But then, I'm also not a huge spirits fan. I like rum and a bit of
whiskey, but I've not tried a wide range of either. I tend to stick to
liqueurs and hard ciders.
